Mid Carolina Credit Union hosted a groundbreaking event for their new two-story 12,000-square-foot main office on August 1. The Lugoff facility will be located next to Heritage Chevrolet at 841 Highway 1 South. This exciting venture is in response to the tremendous growth Mid Carolina has experienced in recent years. In order to continue to provide the high level of service members expect, Mid Carolina’s leadership team sees the need to prepare for a future of continued growth with improved facilities and space for an expanding team.

During the ceremony, dignitaries, credit union employees and members of the Board of Directors were present to share the news and turn the ground. In making the announcement, Mid Carolina Credit Union President and CEO, Scott Conley said, “We areexcited about our expansion; this building signifies our continued strong growth and further cements our commitment to serving members and the community. Unlike a large bank that is driven by profits for shareholders, Mid Carolina Credit Union is a financial cooperative that is owned by its members, so we are committed to improving their financial position. Whether it’s through money-saving products, services, infrastructure or corporate responsibility, everything Mid Carolina Credit Union does is for the positive impact of its members and community.”

The new facility, which replaces its former location on the InVista Plant property, is expected to be completed summer 2018. The first floor will house a full-service flagship branch to serve local members including an ATM. The second floor will have office space for executive staff and several back-office departments. The facility was designed by Consultants and Builders, Inc. and will be the first to feature the credit union’s new modern retail design. The InVista location will become an administration building.

QUOTES

“This is an exciting day for Mid Carolina Credit Union. We have been serving Lugoff and the Kershaw County area for years, but this new facility will allow us to deepen our roots in the community. When complete, the branch will allow us to offer new technology and expand our services, providing a more visible and convenient location for the community to do business with us as we continue to deliver quality financial products and services.”

- Greg Nettles, Mid Carolina Credit Union Chairman

“My grandfather began banking at the credit union upon its opening as the May Plant Credit Union years ago working for DuPont, through him I grew up in and out of its doors. My family banks with them today which makes it rewarding to see Mid Carolina Credit Union recommitting itself to the Lugoff and surrounding areas by investing in a new and improved branch that will bring their members and this community the advanced products and services we need in today’s market.”

- Rep. Laurie Slade Funderburk, SC House of Representatives

“Mid Carolina Credit Union’s future is bright. With a commitment to their internal values and a focused strategy for future growth, the credit union is prepared to help people afford life now more than ever. We know that credit union’s and other small businesses are the heart of our economy and we are blessed to have such a community focused organization committed to the Kershaw County area.”

- Julian Burns, Kershaw County Council Chairman
