Mid Carolina Credit Union Awarded $8,000 Vizo Financial Empowerment Grant to Launch Youth Financial Education Program
Mid Carolina Credit Union (MCCU) has been awarded an $8,000 Financial Empowerment Grant from Vizo Financial Corporate Credit Union, made possible through the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation, to support the launch of its new youth financial literacy platform.
MCCU is one of nine credit unions across North and South Carolina selected to receive part of the $50,000 distributed through the 2025 Vizo Financial Empowerment Grant program, which supports projects that promote financial education and wellness.
Recognizing the importance of connecting with younger members, MCCU’s new initiative focuses on building lifelong financial skills through interactive education and youth-friendly account offerings. The program will introduce a line of Revolutionary Youth Accounts, which includes:
Founding Savings Account
Independence Checking Account
Lightning Rod Certificate
Each account is designed to be engaging and age-appropriate, helping children and teens develop healthy money habits early. The initiative will also integrate Banzai Financial Education, an interactive digital resource that provides real-world financial lessons tailored for students and families.
“Our goal is to empower young people with the knowledge and confidence to make smart financial choices,” said Dean Scarborough, CEO of Mid Carolina Credit Union. “We’re thankful for the support of Vizo Financial and the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation as we expand our efforts to meet the next generation where they are.”
Now in its second year, the Vizo Financial Empowerment Grant program continues to provide funding for credit unions creating impactful education and outreach in their communities.
