Supporting the Educational Goals of Our Student-Members

Mid Carolina Credit Union is proud to continue its tradition of supporting local students through the MCCU Education Scholarship Program. For the 2025–2026 academic year, applications are now open and will be accepted through February 28, 2026.

Each year, MCCU awards four one-time scholarships of $1,000 to graduating high school seniors who are members of the credit union and meet the eligibility criteria. The goal of this program is to recognize academic achievement, community involvement, and financial responsibility, while also encouraging financial literacy.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a primary member of Mid Carolina Credit Union

  • Be a graduating high school senior as of the 2025–2026 school year

  • Plan to attend a two- or four-year accredited college in the fall of 2026

  • Hold a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale

  • Join the credit union before the application deadline, if not already a member

What’s Required?

A complete application package must include:

  • Completed MCCU Scholarship Application

  • A 300–500 word essay on the provided topic

  • Two letters of recommendation

  • School transcript

  • Completion of the Banzai Teen course via the MCCU Financial Wellness Center, with a post-test score of 80% or higher

All materials must be submitted or postmarked no later than February 27, 2026.

Scholarship Application

*One submission per person. By submitting an entry to the Mid Carolina Credit Union Education Scholarship, you are certifying that you are a senior in high school and give permission for your name to be published as a winner of the contest. Winners will be notified by phone, mail, and/or email before April 1, 2025. If you are selected as a winner, please remain in contact with MCCU, winners are asked to attend the credit union's annual members meeting to be recognized.

*Open and offered to legal residents of the United States (US) and currently enrolled as a high school senior student (Grade 12) as of February 27, 2026 in an accredited high school or alternative schooling program that will award the equivalent of a high school diploma as designated by their state, and must be enrolled in a two- or four-year US college before August 31, 2026. The scholarship entry period begins at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time (EST) on December 1, 2025 and ends at 11:59 p.m. EST on February 27, 2026. Odds of winning are dependent on number of submissions. A panel of judges consisting of MCCU staff, board members and district teachers will review entries and determine winners. Mid Carolina is not responsible for lost or misdirected mail. All submitted materials become the property of Mid Carolina.
